Market Preview 7/9 & 7/12

Can you believe we are already in the month of July!? This month will bring copious amounts of some of our favorite summer produce:  tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, squash, beans, and more!!!  It's an exciting time of the year for produce lovers and an extremely busy time of the year for our farmers! This market season has been a bit tough for a lot of our farmers because of the harsh winter and extremely rainy spring we've had.  That weather has made it a slow start for most of our farmers and their varieties of produce, so if you've wondered why there hasn't been a great variety at the market yet, just wait!
This past week brought some new first time vendors to our market, and in the coming weeks we'll be seeing the return of some years past vendors (can you say Sleepy Hollow Orchard!!!)  We'd like to welcome A&L Produce and Hill Crest Farm to our market as our newest vendors, check back to read all about these two new vendors.  A&L Produce sells a variety of produce and Hill Crest Farm sells herbs ready to take home and plant!

This week we will have beautiful weather for our Wednesday and Saturday markets, and Saturday is completely packed full of events at the market!  Bring children of all ages to our kid's tent for an exciting outdoor story time presented by the Indiana Free Library!  And bring your taste buds to try the delicious samples that will be made right in front of you thanks to Nick Karas, chef from Nap's Cucina Mia, who will be preparing a live food demonstration!!  Check out which vendors to expect at the market this week and look below to see our schedule of events.

My first yellow squash was picked this weekend from my personal garden, and to celebrate I'll share a ridiculously delicious recipe that uses squash, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, zucchini, and garlic ALL ingredients that you can find and buy locally at the Indiana County Farmers' Market!!!! Eat it alone or pair with grilled chicken to add some protein to your meal.
