Market Preview October 18th

Sorry for the hiatus on blog updates, but with a new baby and a new farming adventure, we've been a little busy! I wanted to at least update the blog once more before the 2014 market season is over!  We have two Saturday markets left, and then we'll have to wait through a long winter before we can start dreaming about fresh picked lettuces, onions, broccoli, peppers, tomatoes, and more!

The market has been smaller with the number of vendors decreasing as we near the end of the season due to slower crop production.  We do have a good number of vendors left who have a variety of produce to offer! Check out the varieties of gourds and pumpkins available, the different kinds of apples and pears, and crisp greens.  Also check out the different kinds of root vegetables that are left, like carrots, onions, and potatoes.  This link will give you ideas and ways to store these vegetables all winter, a small way to enjoy the market through these cold winter months ahead!  Also you can find a delicious recipe that uses butternut squash and apples to make a creamy soup that can warm up any cold autumn day!
