Learn more about the local folks who grow and produce your favorite market goods here.

This week, we also kick off the season with some great groups in our special booths.  You can look forward to work by local artist Ashleigh Bowman, daylilies with grower and hybidizer Gary Ball, and live music by Country Blue, an acoustic country and bluegrass duo.

As you shop, be sure to also stop in to the market information booth.  We'll have info about the market, including seasonal food guides and other handy resources, and we'll be giving away free, reusable shopping bags to the first 150 customers!

The market booth is also where you can swipe your credit, debit, or EBT card for tokens to spend with participating vendors.  Find details here on how to use your card and tokens at the market.
  • Cards will be accepted at Saturday morning markets ONLY.  Tokens can be spent on any market day with participating vendors.
  • Participating vendors will post a sign in their booths stating that they accept market tokens.  A list of participating vendors is also available at the Market Information booth.
  • When you arrive, visit the Market Information booth.  A volunteer will swipe your card for the amount you request and give you tokens to spend at the market.
  • You can choose how much market money you want.  Credit/debit tokens are $1 each; SNAP tokens are $0.50 each.
  • Credit/debit transactions include a small transaction fee to help us cover the cost of this service.  There are no fees for SNAP transactions
  • Spend your tokens like cash with participating vendors.  Note: Change cannot be given for purchases made with SNAP tokens.
  • Tokens do not expire.  If you do not spend your market money, you can use it next week, next month, or even next season!
While we hope that many shoppers will take advantage of this system, please remember that cash (especially in small bills) is still the preferred payment method for many of our market vendors!

We would like to thank the Center for Community Growth for providing funding Foodbucks once again this season.  This program allows us to increase access to fresh, local foods by matching tokens for EBT customers (up to $20 per customer per market day).  Thank you for your support!

Get Ready for Market Season!

We are just over a week away from opening day.  Are you ready?  Read on for resources about how to connect with us, tips for a successful shopping experience, what's in season, and how to get involved!  We can't wait to get this season started!

Opening Day
The first way to get excited about the 2019 market season is to check out our opening day event.  We'll welcome new and returning vendors and you - our amazing customers - on Saturday, June 1 behind S&T Bank in downtown Indiana (8th & Church Streets).  In addition to fresh, local foods, you can pick up a free reusable shopping bag in the market booth (while supplies last), explore many varieties of gorgeous day lilies, enjoy live music, and more!

Shopping Tips
Are you new to the market or just looking for ways to get the most out of your visit?  Check out our tips for shopping the market.  My top tips:  Be flexible with your shopping list, try new things, and get to know your farmers!

What's In Season?
We are a producer-only market.  This means that our farmers sell what they grow, and you are getting the freshest produce around!  It also means that you probably won't find all of your favorites all of the time.  Eating with the seasons takes some practice, but there is always something delicious to look forward to.  Check out this seasonal calendar from PA Preferred for an idea of when local fruits and veggies will be available.

Get Involved
We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist with market projects!  Our greatest need is for people to staff the market information booth at the Saturday market.  Volunteers set up the booth, run the card swipe machine, distribute tokens, and provide information about the market.  Training is provided.

Other opportunities are available, as well, whether you have a couple hours to give or would like to be involved on a monthly or weekly basis.  To learn more or sign up as a volunteer, contact Jenna at indianafarmmarket@gmail.com.  You can also ask to be added to our volunteer e-mail list and be notified when a new opportunity comes up.
