Week of June 26 & 29

The sun is shining, the ground is (finally) starting to dry out, and we are looking forward to another beautiful week for the market.

Last week, we celebrated our friends, the pollinators.  There were two live bee displays, beekeeping information by Indiana PA Honey Bee, live music by Country Blue, and our very own dancing bee teaching kids of all ages the "waggle dance" and helping them find a special flower hidden in the market.  We also hosted local artisans Your Story Charmed, Melissa Kocinski, and Chandler Bouton & Emily McMichael.  Thanks to all who came out!

This week, we look forward to once again enjoying the music of Al Craigie.  You can also shop unique hand-painted pots and art prints by Ashleigh Bowman.

Pollinator Day!

The market is in full swing, and it was wonderful to see so many families come out for our first Kids Day event of the year!

Thank you to all who participated by providing activities, donating produce for sampling, bringing your kiddos to the market, and shopping with our amazing local vendors!  Big thanks to the Indiana Gazette for coming out and covering this event, as well!

Kids of all ages tasted locally-grown lettuce at the market information booth, planted seeds with Tinkergarten, created sticky nature collages with SQUAD Jr. Art Studio, and picked up coloring books and other resources about the harmful effects of smoking from the Armstrong-Indiana-Clarion Drug and Alcohol Commission

We also enjoyed live music by Dan Stonerook and incredibly tasty samples cooked up by the talented chefs of Philly Street Station, highlighting our featured veggie of the week - lettuce!

This week there is even more fun coming your way!

Wednesday, we welcome the IRMC Food & Nutrition Department to the market.  Stop by to sample some fresh veggies with dip - and take home a recipe!

Saturday, it's Pollinator Day!  Let's celebrate and learn more about our pollinator friends!

In addition to our amazing local farmers and producers, you can visit with the folks from Indiana PA Honeybee and try to spot the dancing bee buzzing around our market (you may recognize her from the market or the Indiana Community Garden) - jump in and join her for a round of the "waggle dance"!  We'll also welcome local artisan Melissa Kosinski and enjoy live music by Country Blue.

Did you know that pollinators are responsible for bringing us 1 out of every 3 bites of food?!  Join us in celebrating National Pollinator Week - learn more about why these tiny creatures are so important to our ecosystems and food supply and what you can do to help.

Mother Earth Farm joins us for the first time this season.  Mahoning Creek Farm will not be at the market this week.

Week of June 12 & 15

Kids' Day is here!  This event was a big hit last year for families and our vendors, and we have another great lineup of fun, FREE kids activities scheduled for this year!  Find details and share with your friends on Facebook

Last week, we braved the winds and enjoyed the musical stylings of Al Craigie.  Our Wednesday market also opened for the season on Wayne Avenue, across from the KCAC.

This week, there is a huge lineup of special booths to check out:

Throughout the season, we will feature different produce items at the market.  This week, we highlight lettuce of all kinds!  Taste a sample, and earn a market buck to use toward the purchase of lettuce at the market.  Kids can pick up their samples at the market information booth, and adults can sample at the cooking demonstration throughout the morning.  Lettuce market bucks are good for this Saturday's market ONLY.  This program is funded through the Department of Agriculture's Specialty Crop Block Grant program.

SAVE THE DATE

Pollinator Day is June 22!
Join us in celebrating and learning more about our pollinator friends.  The schedule includes live music, Indiana PA Honey Bee, and kids' activities from the Indiana Community Garden.

Week of June 5 & 8

Thank you, thank you, thank you!  We had an amazing turnout (and some pretty lovely weather) for our opening market day last Saturday.  We are so grateful for all of you who joined us and shared the event with family and friends.  We're looking forward to a wonderful season and are so happy you are excited to share it with us!

The Wednesday market begins this week, too!  You can find us from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. on Wayne Avenue, across from the KCAC (in the old Bi-Lo parking lot).  We have a new vendor or two joining the Wednesday crew, so come by and see what's fresh.

Last Saturday, we welcomed back many of your favorite vendors - don't worry, even more will be coming as the season progresses!

  • Lone Oak Farm
  • Natalie's Goodies
  • Longview Farm and Apiary
  • Mahoning Creek Farm
  • Leap's Farm
  • Nature Works Farm
  • Fat Radish Farm
  • Yarnick's Farm
  • Cultures, LLC
  • Huber's 3 Ponds Farm

We also enjoyed live music by Country BlueLocal artisans Ashleigh Bowman and Your Story Charmed, as well as daylily grower and hybridizer Gary Ball brought their creations and plants.

Nearly 150 of you stopped by our market booth to pick up a free shopping bag and information about our market and vendors!

This week, we open the Wednesday market and welcome musician Alan Craigie to the Saturday market.  Come by and see what is coming into season.  Strawberries are available now - but they won't last long!

Please remember that while we at the Farmers' Market are very fond of animals of all kinds, due to PA Department of Agriculture regulations, no pets are permitted at the market.  If you do bring a pet, please tie them up outside the market area.
