Week of 7/31 & 8/3

August is almost here, and it is peak season for many of your favorite fruits and veggies!  This is sure to be a jam-packed month of delicious local foods and special market events.  Bring the whole family and enjoy a morning at the market!

Last week we celebrated the snappy, crunchy, versatile...green beansChef Nate from Romeo's Pizza showed some delicious ways to use your fresh market beans.  Thank you!  We also welcomed Fair Districts PA to the community booth and enjoyed, once again, the musical stylings of Alan Craigie.

This week, we are happy to have Dan Stonerook performing what he describes as "bearded, acoustic, bluesy, storytellin' music".  We will also have the Pittsburgh Community Food Bank on hand to share SNAP resources, recipes, and more.

Remember - You can swipe your SNAP, credit, or debit at our Saturday market for tokens to spend with participating vendors.  Thanks to generous community donations, we are also able to double SNAP dollars (up to $20 per market day).  Learn more here

Save the Date!
We have 2 market events coming up in August, so be on the lookout for more information here and on our Facebook page.

Health & Wellness Day

We all know that fresh fruits and veggies are good for our health, but choosing produce harvested at its peak and eating it at its freshest may increase those benefits.  Our market is in peak season, and there is an amazing variety of produce to choose from.  Learn more about the benefits of buying and eating local foods here.

Last week, artisan Dragynchyld Barkey joined us with some of her one-of-a-kind creations.  Al Craigie provided musical entertainment, U.S. Army recruiters shared information about careers in the armed services, and we welcomed new vendor Pigweed Hemp & Farmacy.

This week, join us for a day of health and wellness at the market!

You can start by shopping with our amazing vendors, who will have loads of fresh, local foods to nourish your body (and they taste great, too!).

Next check out a cooking demonstration and samples by Sandy's Custom Cuisine, starring our featured produce item of the week - CUCUMBERS!  Cucumber nutrition facts and recipes will be available at the market information booth.

Lifesteps Mobile Unit and the Armstrong-Indiana-Clarion Drug & Alcohol Commission will be on hand, and you can take a break with live music by Country Blue!

Week of July 10 & 13

We hope you all had an enjoyable holiday weekend and are settling back into regular routines.  Summer produce is really coming in now, so if you haven't been to the market for a couple weeks, it's time to stop by and see what is new - beans, tomatoes, garlic, cucumbers, squash, and much more is fresh and ready for you!

Last week, Country Blue returned with acoustic country and bluegrass - a great soundtrack for our market.  We also welcomed back Uncle Henry's Garden to the market, and Mahoning Creek Farm grilled up some delicious smoked sausages to sample!

This week, enjoy the classic rock and jazz music of Al Craigie.  You can also shop clay creations by Dragynchyld Barkey and chat with a recruiter from the US Army.

We are also excited to add two brand new vendors this week - Buck Run Honey, and Pigweed Hemp & Farmacy.  Welcome!!
