This Saturday is our annual Customer Appreciation Day, 9:00-noon, August 16th!!! Our taste testing event this year will feature PEPPERS! From hot to sweet, we'll have the freshest peppers around for you to sample, along with pepper relish from Natalie's Goodies and bread and cucumbers from Country Bread Barn and 3 Ponds Farm to help soothe your mouth if you dare to try a hot one!!! We will be giving away Indiana County Farmers' Market reusable shopping bags to the first 100 market customers filled with a PA produce cookbook, market recipes, and buying local handouts! We will also have a giveaway of a market basket full of market goods from participating vendors, come to the Kid's Tent to sign up for the basket giveaway, snag a reusable bag, and sample peppers!! There will be face painting in the Kid's Tent by the 2013 Indiana County Fair Queen, and music duo Christian and Taylor will be back performing. It should be a wonderful event, so come early and stay awhile, thank you for supporting your local farmers' market!!
Last Saturday at the market we had a wonderful crowd and exciting giveaway for children gardeners in our Kid's Tent thanks to the Indiana Garden Club! On Wednesday we are continuing to have a great turnout of customers and we appreciate those who have followed us to our new location!!

One of my favorite go-to recipes for this time of year is quick, simple, and can be eaten many ways! It's fresh hot peppers (hungarian wax, banana peppers, etc) chopped up with fresh diced tomatoes (cherry, cocktail, or larger tomatoes), with a drizzle of olive oil, 2 cloves of garlic, and fresh herbs of your choice (I like parsley and basil). Serve this over lettuce, eat it plain, or my favorite on a thick slice of italian bread!!! Enjoy :)
