Market Preview July 30 & August 2

Martha Crenshaw
Nicole Dann
Last week was another successful week at the Indiana County Farmers' Market, and we have YOU our devoted customers to thank! At our Wednesday market we had dietitian Martha Crenshaw from IRMC who distributed infused water samples and on Saturday we had dietitian Nicole Dann who also made infused water samples and discussed healthier alternatives to store bought drinks (as well as a cheaper alternative!) We had a crowd of children who made good/bad bug bookmarks and learned about some of the helpful and harmful bugs that can be found in gardens.  Our artist was Nancy Heath with stained glass that was beautiful!
If (when) we start scheduling artists for September and October, we hope to bring back some of our favorites again! (If you were wondering, I'm due in September so the Community, Artist, Musician, and Kid's Tents are only scheduled currently through August because I will be on leave for at least a little while with the new baby!)

We are excited to start planning and preparing for our annual Customer Appreciation Day, which is going to be held earlier this year on August 16!!  We have a lot of exciting giveaways, activities, and food sampling planned, but we will reveal all the details next week, just be sure to mark your calendar because it's coming up quick!  *We are looking for some volunteers, 2-3, who might be interested and able to help us with face painting in our kid's tent. You don't need to be an artist, we will have stencils, but we do need help since I will be occupied with the samples and giveaways.  Please email us or talk to me on Saturday if you're able to help, indianafarmmarket@gmail.com *

This week Sunflower Yoga Studio instructor Ed Stancombe will be back with yoga for everyone at 9:15 and 10:15, come prepared to learn some standing poses and relaxing breathing techniques! We will also welcome back artisan Chere Winneck-Shawer with her jewelry and bags and a new musician to the market, Andrew Mack!  Our Community Tent will feature the First UU Church of Indiana, PA and their social justice team.

This week will bring some cooler weather, but this recipe is good for those HOT summer days, so save it for when the temperatures start to rise again. A good use for all the cucumbers and zucchinis that are growing this time of year!
