Week of August 15 & 18

This week marks the official halfway point of  our 2018 season.  Can you believe it?!  The time has gone so quickly,  but the best is yet to come!  Peaches are in season now, and you can look forward to more tomatoes, peppers, and your favorite fall produce in the weeks to come.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped make Customer Appreciation Day a success.
First and foremost - our amazing customers who keep our market going and growing from season to season!
Our vendors donated beautiful items for the giveaway baskets and yummy tomato samples and ran special promotions.
We also enjoyed live music by Country Blue, nutrition information, recipes, and tabbouleh samples from IRMC's Institute for Healthy Living, and information about watershed conservation and water quality from the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy.  It was a wonderful morning!

Over in the market booth, we gave away three beautiful prize baskets to lucky shoppers.

We also launched a new texting program.  You can now receive market reminders and sneak peeks of what produce is available, special activities, etc. straight to your phone!  To sign up, text @indianaco to the number 81010 or follow this link.

Next week, we are back to business as usual.  WIC and the Power Up Nutrition Program join us again in the community booth.  WIC staff will be on hand to assist clients in receiving and redeeming vouchers for the Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP), which are accepted by many of our vendors.  They share the space with the Power Up Nutrition Education Program.  Power-Up provides no-cost nutrition education, recipes, and food demonstrations and tasting to highlight local produce.

As always, you can swipe your credit, debit, or EBT card for market tokens in the market information booth.  Vendors who accept tokens will have a sign posted in their booths.

See you at the market!

The Pennsylvania Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides nutrition services, breastfeeding support, health care and social service referrals, and healthy foods.  Through WIC, pregnant women, mothers, and caregivers of infants and young children learn about good nutrition to keep themselves and their families healthy!
