Week of 8/29 & 9/1

Welcome back IUP!  Your summer may be over, but our season is still in full swing.  Whether you've been shopping with us since June or have been away for awhile, be sure to stop by the market to see what's new!

Summer produce is still at it's peak, but we're also seeing some of our fall favorites coming in!  This week brought the first apples of the year, as well as several varieties of fall/winter squash.

This week is also Fair Week.  The Wednesday market will be OPEN at our regular time and place (3:00 to 5:30 p.m. in the lot across from the KCAC - along with fair parking), with a limited number of vendors.  Hope to see you there!

In case you missed it (or if you really enjoyed it) at Customer Appreciation Day earlier this month, IRMC's Institute for Healthy Living handed out samples of a delicious tabbouleh.  It makes for a great, light summer salad or side dish.  Try this recipe with fresh ingredients from the market.  You can also substitute your grain of preference, trading out the bulgar for rice, quinoa, or nothing at all.

This Saturday, a new artisan joins us at the market.  Dolores Lezark will be selling a variety of toothbrush rugs.  Stop in and take a look!

As always, you can swipe your credit, debit, or EBT card for market tokens in the market information booth.  Vendors who accept tokens will have a sign posted in their booths.

You can now also receive market reminders and sneak peeks of what produce is available, special activities, etc. straight to your phone!  To sign up for text reminders, text @indianaco to the number 81010 or follow this link.

See you at the market!

We are seeking sponsors for our Foodbucks incentive program at the market.  Under this program, customers using an EBT card at the market booth receive an equal amount in Foodbucks - doubling their market dollars.  This draws new customers to the market and increases access to fresh, local foods for low-income families in our community.

If you are a business or organization that is interested in sponsoring Foodbucks, please contact us at indianafarmmarket@gmail.com.  Special thanks to the Center for Community Growth for their past support and for getting this program started here in Indiana!

Week of August 15 & 18

This week marks the official halfway point of  our 2018 season.  Can you believe it?!  The time has gone so quickly,  but the best is yet to come!  Peaches are in season now, and you can look forward to more tomatoes, peppers, and your favorite fall produce in the weeks to come.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped make Customer Appreciation Day a success.
First and foremost - our amazing customers who keep our market going and growing from season to season!
Our vendors donated beautiful items for the giveaway baskets and yummy tomato samples and ran special promotions.
We also enjoyed live music by Country Blue, nutrition information, recipes, and tabbouleh samples from IRMC's Institute for Healthy Living, and information about watershed conservation and water quality from the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy.  It was a wonderful morning!

Over in the market booth, we gave away three beautiful prize baskets to lucky shoppers.

We also launched a new texting program.  You can now receive market reminders and sneak peeks of what produce is available, special activities, etc. straight to your phone!  To sign up, text @indianaco to the number 81010 or follow this link.

Next week, we are back to business as usual.  WIC and the Power Up Nutrition Program join us again in the community booth.  WIC staff will be on hand to assist clients in receiving and redeeming vouchers for the Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP), which are accepted by many of our vendors.  They share the space with the Power Up Nutrition Education Program.  Power-Up provides no-cost nutrition education, recipes, and food demonstrations and tasting to highlight local produce.

As always, you can swipe your credit, debit, or EBT card for market tokens in the market information booth.  Vendors who accept tokens will have a sign posted in their booths.

See you at the market!

Week of August 1 & 4

August is here, and so are your favorite summer fruits, veggies, and lots of other delicious local goodies!  The market is brimming with tomatoes, beans, summer squash, cucumbers, melons, and so much more!!

Last week, we had lots of fun in the Kids' Tent making mud pies and nature crowns with a local Tinkergarten leader.  Over in the Community Booth, VFW Auxiliary Post 1989 collected lightly used shoes and boots.  If you missed this chance to donate, don't worry!  Check out their Facebook page for other opportunities to give.

This week, we welcome back Dan Stonerook, playing "bearded, acoustic, bluesy, storytellin' music".

After a music break, be sure to visit the Community Booth, where the Wise Women's Natural Health Collective will be sharing information about herbs, permaculture, and nutrition, including a sample menu plan (including ingredients fresh from the market) and herbal first aid.  They'll also be holding a giveaway for a market basket from Baskets of Africa!

As always, you can swipe your credit, debit, or EBT card for market tokens in the market information booth.  Vendors who accept tokens will have a sign posted in their booths.
